Nature is fundamental for a liveable and regenerative future. Our mission is to identify, support, co-design and enable solutions for a biodiverse world and for the wellbeing of people and nature. We work in fruitful partnerships to foster change.
Many climate solutions are understudied. We support research to unearth actionable insights about how nature can be preserved and restored globally and how specific nature-based solutions can be leveraged to decarbonize.
We support immersive and interactive experiences for all age groups so people can reconnect, open their heart to nature as the fundament to human wellbeing, and start acting in sync with nature.
Clear and binding policies are crucial to a fair transformation to net-zero. We strive to support the creation of appropriate policies and frameworks with selected measures in Switzerland.
Empowering people and making nature the economic choice is key in mitigating and adapting to climate changes. We invest in and support organisations that offer unique, measurable and scalable climate positive solutions.
The Bloom Foundation is dedicated to advancing a biodiverse and regenerative world through innovative, impactful solutions that reconnect people and nature, fostering a sustainable future for generations.
We envision a harmonious balance between human well-being, thriving ecosystems, and technological progress, ensuring a future that can be cherished by all.
To achieve this, we support forward-thinking approaches, including scientific research, immersive experiences, governance frameworks, and hands-on projects that promote climate protection, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem restoration.
Collaborating with universities, research institutions, foundations, and private sponsors, we prioritize innovative and practical solutions to environmental challenges.
We devote our resources and energy to solutions that balance the well-being of people with the needs of nature and strive for impactful, sustainable results rather than isolated activities.
We aim for long-term, systemic change rather than quick fixes and help create collaborative ecosystems for effective solutions. We thus proactively connect to other key players and platforms to scout new projects.
We recognize the role of technology alongside behavioural change and governance in tackling climate challenges and are committed to a balanced use of all available instruments.
We believe that further research into climate solutions is essential to advance understanding of nature-based carbon sinks and other emerging methods, emphasizing actionable outcomes.

Global interest in nature-based carbon dioxide removal strategies is rising alongside the urgency to combat climate change. Nature-based strategies complement mitigation efforts by addressing hard-to-reduce emissions. Among these, ocean-based solutions like alkalinity enhancement show potential. However, their effectiveness and risks to marine ecosystems and society are still largely unknown. The Bloom Fellowship position at the Faculty of Climate and Environmental Physics at the University of Berne aims to fill this knowledge gap by using high-resolution Earth System models and novel ocean observations to inform future climate strategies.

Carbon markets have a key role to play in global climate change efforts. The IPCC highlights the need to reduce CO2 emissions by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030 to limit warming to 1.5°C. Nature-based solutions could deliver 37% of the mitigation needed by 2030, highlighting the importance of carbon markets to complement direct action.
With its unique blockchain solution, the Open Forest Protocol is laying the foundation for more inclusive, scalable and data-backed financing mechanisms for nature-based climate solutions.

Coastal ecosystems are vital defenses against climate disasters, absorbing carbon dioxide rapidly and supporting over 120 million vulnerable coastal residents. Yet, mangroves, coral reefs, and similar habitats are nearing the point of collapse due to various pressures. As part of the UBS Climate Collective, Bloom focuses on:
